Commenting on the cost of living measures announced by the Chancellor today, Mubin Haq, CEO of abrdn Financial Fairness Trust, said:
“The government has acted decisively and its support package will prevent some of the most vulnerable in our society from being hit even harder by the cost of living crisis, providing them with some much-needed breathing space. These are very welcome measures. However, as the Chancellor himself acknowledged, he cannot help everyone. For some, including those not on means-tested benefits but living on low-to-middle incomes, the measures will make some difference but they are likely to continue to struggle with rising prices for food and other essentials.”
